A major focus in the 7S class at RYNJ is learning how to give back to the community, as part of SINAI’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program, funded by Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. In previous years SINAI students have had the opportunity to volunteer at a number of local chesed organizations. This year those opportunities were limited. After participating in Sharsheret Pink Day at RYNJ, the girls of 7S decided to hold a fundraiser for this organization. The class had the opportunity to hear from Ellen Kleinhaus, the director of campus and community engagement for Sharsheret, about the work of this organization. The girls designed and sold pink beaded mask chains and donated the proceeds to Sharsheret. The fundraiser was a huge success; the girls raised $450. Special thanks to SINAI@TABC student Yehuda Goldman who designed beautiful labels that were used to enhance the final project. Thank you to all of the teachers, parents and friends for their support.
