SINAI@Ma’ayanot Supports IDF Families

Students at the SINAI School at Ma’ayanot High School spearheaded an initiative to help the Hug an I.D.F. Mom and Newborn project, which delivers gift baskets of newborn essentials to families whose husbands are serving in the I.D.F. The gift baskets include essential newborn items such as a warm blanket, swaddle, outfit, bib, burp cloths, hat, baby toy, crib sheet and a gift for the mom. These gift baskets have been meaningful to the moms and have been delivered all over Israel.

Students of SINAI at Ma’ayanot organized a collection of baby items throughout Ma’ayanot High School and the local community. Students of SINAI at Ma’ayanot also raised money through their student-run weekly café, called Lev Cafe. Students allocated proceeds from the cafe to purchase beautiful baby blankets, which they added to the gift baskets in which they were arranging.

Additionally, students from SINAI at Ma’ayanot and students from Ma’ayanot worked together to gift wrap the packages. These gift packages will be personally delivered to, and distributed in Israel next week. In working together, two large duffels of baby items will be sent to Hug an I.D.F. Mom and Newborn!

Involvement by SINAI students in projects such as this is yet another way in which these students learn and internalize the importance of giving back to the community.

Hug an I.D.F. Mom and Newborn started with the intention to show support and give a new mom a “hug” while her husband is fighting to protect the land of Israel and our nation. Many of the moms welcomed their newborns into the world without their husbands next to them. Many husbands were unable to attend the birth of their baby. Some fathers were unable to attend their son’s circumcisions in person, watching via Zoom and naming their son while in the middle of Gaza. Sadly, too large of a number of these gift baskets are being delivered to widows whose newborns will never know their fathers. Hug an I.D.F. Mom and Newborn works directly with the I.D.F. units to connect to the moms and their families.
