Anshei Lubavitch preschoolers were in for a special treat when a sofer came to the classroom to check the mezuzot. After explaining to the students the important job a sofer performs, Rabbi Rephael Hirsch gave a demonstration of how a sofer uses quills with ink to write mezuzah, tefillin and Torah scrolls on parchment. Rabbi Hirsch explained all the different tools that a sofer uses and wrote each of the letters of the aleph bet as they appear in the Torah. The students then used a feather dipped in ink to write their own Torah letters in preparation for Shavuot.
