Something Borrowed: The Teaneck Gown Gemach Finds Its Forever Home

(Courtesy of Something Borrowed Gown Gemach) The Something Borrowed Gown Gemach has finally settled into its permanent home at 545 Cedar Lane, second floor. Since its inception in 2023, the organization has experienced remarkable growth, lending out over 500 exquisite gowns and dresses to members of the community. This milestone is a testament to the overwhelming demand for this kind of gemach.

The new space is a dream come true – spacious, well-lit and filled with natural light pouring in through large windows. The gemach boasts an abundant collection of gowns, from babies to brides. It has gowns for baby girls, flower girls, bat mitzvahs, cocktail dresses, mother/ sister/ and even friends of the bride and groom! There is also a large selection of white wedding gowns and veils. The collection of white graduation dresses is growing and the gemach welcomes your donations after this year’s graduations. You can also find suits and tuxedos for baby boys.

Donations can be left on the porch at either 302 Maitland Ave in Teaneck or 46 Sylvamdur Rd in Bergenfield. Tax receipts are available upon request.

The community is invited to the grand reopening this Sunday, June 8! Come and see the new expansive space, with ample room to showcase the gemach’s extensive collection. Its expanded hours will provide greater accessibility:

  • Sunday: 10 -11 a.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 10:30 a.m.- noon
  • Wednesday: 8-9 p.m.
