(Courtesy of Young Israel of Fort Lee) Rabbis Zev Goldberg, Beni Krohn and Andrew Markowitz have been close friends and colleagues for many years. Rabbi Goldberg is the rabbi of the Young Israel of Fort Lee, Rabbi Krohn is the rabbi of Young Israel of Teaneck, and Rabbi Markowitz is the rabbi of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fair Lawn. These three rabbis and friends have joined together to unite their communities through shared Torah learning during the Three Weeks. The series of lectures is titled “Destruction and Destiny: Three Perspectives on the Three Weeks.”
The online lectures will be held on consecutive Sunday evenings in July. The first shiur will take place this Sunday evening, July 12, at 8:45 p.m. and will be delivered by Rabbi Krohn on the topic of “Feeling Distant and Yearning for Closeness: Understanding the Goal of the Three Weeks.” Rabbi Markowitz’s shiur will take place the following Sunday and Rabbi Goldberg will give the concluding lecture.
“I am honored to join together with my good friends and their respective shuls as we unite to find meaning in this difficult time period,” said Rabbi Krohn.
Rabbi Markowitz and Rabbi Goldberg echoed those sentiments; they are both pleased and excited to connect their communities through Torah study.
As Rabbi Markowitz noted, “Online learning has created unique opportunities to spread Torah to a broader audience. This is a great way to utilize the power of Zoom.”
Rabbi Goldberg added, “While we often speak to one another to brainstorm about sermons and lectures, it is a treat for us to learn from one another in such an in-depth fashion. I am already looking forward to this Sunday’s shiur.”
All three lectures are open to the public. Please email [email protected] for the Zoom ID.
