(Courtesy of Camp Sun & Fun) The idea for Camp Sun & Fun was first born during the first summer of COVID. Courtney Gelernter and Aviva Goldwasser are both experienced pediatric therapists, and they saw a need in the community for a small, nurturing and fun summer program designed to boost the skills of preschoolers. Opportunities for meaningful social interactions are central throughout the camp day and are facilitated by Courtney and Aviva to ensure success.
As they gear up for the fourth summer of Camp Sun & Fun, unique theme weeks are being planned that will incorporate gross and fine motor skills as well as sensory processing and regulation activities. Campers participate in obstacle courses, a variety of sports, and activities designed to enhance fine motor manipulation and coordination as well as pre-writing skills. Each activity is carefully planned and geared toward targeting age-appropriate developmental skills. Multisensory activities are incorporated in various ways from water play to centers and crafts. In addition, Courtney and Aviva work closely with parents to prioritize what is most important as well as provide strategies for carryover of skills at home. The camp is now accepting registration in anticipation of a wonderful and productive summer!
Camp Sun & Fun is for preschool children ages 3-5. The summer 2023 will run from July 3-Aug. 11 and meet Mondays-Fridays from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. with extended day option available. Cost is $3,500.
