Frisch’s Girls’ Varsity basketball team is, as of February 2, in first place with a record of 10-1. On January 29 the Frisch girls played Kushner. The coaches worried about not playing over the two week break, but as it turned out their concern was unnecessary. The team came out strong, playing even better than before. Frisch came out with a 56-33 win, the highest scoring game for Frisch this season.
Then on Sunday February 2, Frisch played Hillel, for the second time this season. The team knew to expect aggressiveness from the other team. From the onset, the game was tough. Hillel pulled ahead with a 4-0 lead in the first two minutes, but Frisch pulled back fast and within the next two minutes Frisch was winning 6-4. The game was Frisch’s from that point on. Though there were some sloppy passes, a few missed layups, and some unnecessary fouls, the team overall played well and as a team.
With only one game left in the regular season, the Frisch Cougars are ready for the playoffs. The last game of the season is at Frisch on February 5 against SAR. That night is also senior night, celebrating the seven amazingly skilled seniors on the team: Samantha Kleinhaus, Elizabeth Schechter, Lea Braun, Shahar Platt, Sheri Goldman, Michal Jacobs, and Nicole Feigenbaum. Hopefully after the 5th, the team will clinch first place in the division.
This season has been filled with a lot of hard practices, intense games, and long talks with the coaches, but it has been the best season yet! Watch out playoffs, here we come!
