(RPRY Sports) The RPRY and He’Atid girls soccer teams played an exciting opening game of their seasons on March 28, at RYNJ. It was a hard fought, fast-paced game from the beginning. RPRY opened the scoring on a goal by Maya Grunstein, and doubled their lead via a Sally Cypess tally. He’Atid fought back and cut the deficit to one on a goal by Tama Davis, and tied the game on a beautiful goal set up off a free kick by Regan Wolf to close the third quarter. After a tense back and forth closing period, the game went into sudden death overtime. Ariella Levin punched home a free kick with under two minutes remaining to win it for the RPRY Panthers.
The game was played in front of packed bleachers, as parents, relatives and friends came out to support both teams. If this game is a preview of the season, it will be heart-stopping indeed. Good luck to both teams in future games.
