The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Meira Bear as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The third grader at Yeshivat Noam scored two goals in the championship game to lead TJSL Celtics to the U9 title. TJSL Coach Jeff Fuchs told The Jewish Link, “Throughout this past season Meira consistently played both goalie and forward, showing all around talent in both defending and scoring. She was a pleasure to coach and a great team player.”

Meira, congrats on the championship and on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?

My coaches, Jeff and Tamar Fuchs. They are amazing. They encouraged me to work harder and get better at soccer. I never scored a goal before this season, but this season, I scored a bunch of goals. They taught me how to play soccer and made it fun and exciting.

What is your favorite sport?

Soccer. Because it’s fun to play and I love playing with my team. I meet kids from other schools and I make new friends.

What is your pregame routine?

I practice taking shots at the goal with my team.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Being on the championship soccer team.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My sister Yedida who taught me how to play soccer.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Watching my sister’s soccer games at Yeshivat Noam and Ma’ayanot.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Building Lego with my brother Yoni. He taught me how to make cool things with Lego.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Watching the Super Bowl every year with my family and having a Super Bowl party.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Having fun with my friends on the soccer team.
