For the last 15 years, Sportstar Academy has been known as the premier sports camp. It’s an ideal opportunity to excel and grow at your own level while having the time of your life.

Sportstar Academy is designed to give a solid skills foundation to beginners and an opportunity to seriously hone and improve the skills of more advanced players. Campers are split up on the court according to their abilities, not their age, so every athlete feels comfortable and challenged. Campers leave more disciplined, confident and motivated both on and off the court and field.

Steve Gutlove will assume the position as director of Camp Mesorah’s Sportstar Academy. Steve is currently the coach of all three Junior High School basketball teams at Rosenbaum Yeshiva of NJ (RYNJ) and is also one of the Commissioners of the Mitch Gross Basketball League in Bergen County, which has over 1,000 participants.  Steve played for the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County basketball team and also coached the Varsity Basketball team for the Young Israel of West Hempstead. He is also the Sports Editor for the Jewish Link of Bergen County.

Steve was a staff member at Camp Mesorah from the summers of 1994-1996, as a waiter, Shalhevet and Teen Counselor. He often fondly recalls how as the color war general, he led his team to victory in ‘96!  Steve will be joined by his wife Michelle and their four children Ikey, Noah, Jordy and Daniella.

Sports offered at Sportstar Academy 2014 will include Basketball, Tennis, Golf and Mountain Biking. The dates of the program are: Monday, August 18 through Friday, August 22.
