(Courtesy of TVAC) Adi Segal is a Life Member who joined TVAC in 2004. He loves responding to emergencies and assisting patients at their most vulnerable moments. It is at those critical times when our volunteer EMTs bring comfort and medical support to the residents of Teaneck and beyond.
In high school, Adi rode around the clock, including with our current president, Andy Rudin. Adi met some of his closest friends at TVAC, including Ariel Douek and Yael Bellin, who also met at TVAC and later married. Adi signed Yael and Ariel’s marriage license, and Ariel was a groomsman at Adi’s wedding. This past weekend, they came from their respective boroughs of New York to reunite at headquarters and ride Sunday duty together.
Adi attended Columbia University and had a short stint in medical school before realizing his passion for healthcare technology and entrepreneurship. He has since founded a few digital health companies and serves as an advisor to many startups throughout the country. Adi is also an active advocate for access to healthcare in D.C. and state capitals. He credits much of his interest in healthcare and his leadership skills to his early days at TVAC as an EMT, crew chief, and committee chair.
When not riding the ambulance, Adi enjoys outdoor adventure, especially long-distance cycling, traveling and spending quality time with friends and family (who kindly tolerate him leaving in the middle of a meal to take pager calls). He has also had the joy of volunteering with his younger sister Orli Segal, who joined TVAC a few years after he did. Adi is grateful to his wife Danielle Segal, who is not from Teaneck nor an EMT, but proudly allows him to dedicate some of their shared free time to volunteering at TVAC.
In addition to the rewarding work of helping residents and saving lives on a daily basis, TVAC opens doors to so many personal professional opportunities for our members. You may not know you have a passion for the medical field or helping others until you join. Join now and find out if you have what it takes. Visit our website www.teaneckambulance.org
