Each year, SSDS creates a theme for Lag B’Omer. This year’s theme is “The Wizard of Oz” featuring middot connected to the characters of Dorothy (kehillah – community), Scarecrow (chochma – wisdom), Tin Man (ahava – love) and the Lion (ometz -bravery). Each team is also associated with a place in Jerusalem celebrating Yom Yerushalayim, the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.
This is a student-led day, with middle school students serving as team leaders and responsible for guiding their respective teams in creating a team banner, song and dance presentation.
