On September 25 at 7 pm, Schechter will have an advance screening of “On The Map,” a documentary about Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv win over the undefeated “Red Army” Soviets in the 1977 EuroCup semifinals.

This is the game from which the legendary words uttered by New Jersey native Tal Brody, “Anachu b’mapa, v’anachnu nisrim b’mapa. We are on the map and we will stay on the map, not only in sports, but in everything)” have become ingrained in Israeli culture.

Bob Griffin, the American-born member of Israel’s 1977 championship team known to many Israelis as the father of Israeli sports, and a professor, journalist and sports analyst, will lead a discussion about the historic game and how it forever changed the image of Israel on the world stage.

This event is part of SSDS’s 5th Annual Israel Night, benefiting the Stephanie Prezant z”l Israel Scholarship Fund, which provides support to students in need of financial assistance for our Eighth-Grade Israel Encounter, the culmination of SSDS students’ educational journey. The event is open to the public; tickets are $18. SSDS is located at 275 McKinley Ave in New Milford.
