The TABC Storm traveled to Livingston on Veterans Day to take on the Kushner Cobras in a basketball doubleheader. Both JV and varsity were playing their season openers after participating in preseason tournaments—the Rubenstein Tournament and the Magen David Tournament, respectively.
After a back-and-forth in the opening quarter, the JV Storm were able to pull away for good in the second frame and never looked back. The dynamic freshmen duo of Ezra Adams and Tani Stein along with the sophomore tandem of Sammy Haberman and Zachy Lowe led the balanced scoring effort. Josh Neiss ‘28 and David Kranzler ‘27 were terrific in their roles as floor generals while dictating the offensive flow, and the defensive effort with good boxing out paid dividends as the Storm won by a final score of 70-33. It was a great result for Coach Shlomo Weissberg in his TABC coaching debut in which every single member of the team got to check into the game.
The varsity followed and won convincingly. Every player got to see the court and recorded a stat. Lights-out shooting from junior Yonatan Faber and dominant big-man play from senior Eyal Kinderlehrer set the pace. The final score was 83-35. The Cobras were just not able to get going thanks to Coach Oz’s lockdown defense. It only took one game to see why expectations are high for this TABC squad to win its first-ever varsity championship.
