Streit’s to Host Last East Side Annual Passover Palooza

New York—Streit’s Matzo Factory will host award-winning children’s entertainer Mama Doni and The Mama Doni Band at its fourth annual Passover Palooza. The festivities will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 15th at Streit’s Matzo Factory, 150 Rivington St., in NYC. Mama Doni, the “Matzo Girl,” will provide musical entertainment for families, followed by Streit’s tours of its legendary Matzo Factory. This will be the very last time visitors will see matzos being made at the historic Lower East Side location—the company is relocating its headquarters to New Jersey. The concert and matzo factory tours are completely free of charge and open to the public.

To help get into the Passover spirit, Mama Doni and her band will perform special Passover tunes such as “Mission Immatzoble” and “Disco Dayeinu.” Another highlight will be the annual Passover Prize Breaks, featuring an array of prizes for visitors who can correctly answer Passover trivia and questions. Prizes include a host of Streit’s products, Mama Doni’s famous “matzola,” along with CDs, posters, T-shirts and download cards for a free Mama Doni Passover song. “Streit’s is happy to collaborate with Mama Doni once again, as we celebrate family and Passover traditions together,” said Aaron W. Gross of Streit’s.

Mama Doni, alongside her partner and co-writer, Eric Lindberg of the Mama Doni Band, was honored with the Parents’ Choice Awards for their DVD, Mama Doni’s Jewish Holiday Party and their CDs, Emunah and Shabbat Shaboom. At the International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam, The Mama Doni Band was chosen from among more than 100 bands around the globe as the winners of the Simcha Award for “Inspiring Joy Through Music” competition. The band celebrates Jewish culture with irrepressible zest in its interactive family concerts filled with catchy pop songs that break the mold of traditional Jewish music. Quirky, offbeat, and unpredictable, The Mama Doni Band offers up a contagious and unexpected blend of contemporary American Bluegrass, reggae, rock, disco, Latin, and klezmer, all woven together with a hip Jewish sensibility.

Recent Mama Doni releases include Mama Doni’s Jewish Holiday Party (DVD) and Mama Doni: The Acoustic Jewish Holiday Collection (CD), available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, itunes, FYE Stores and See of Sound.
