Students Lead The Idea School Virtual Open House

On November 11, The Idea School hosted its first ever virtual Open House to a crowd of well over 100 prospective students and their families. Showcasing its unique Project-Based Learning model (PBL) that is steeped in student voice and empowerment, two junior students were the emcees for evening. They took the audience on a journey through PBL by moderating a panel discussion with faculty and students answering common questions about the educational model, presenting projects they had worked on and explaining what a day at The Idea School is like. A number of students also spoke about the benefits of PBL which included building deeper connections to their learning and developing real world skills such as collaboration, giving and receiving feedback, and gaining self-confidence in the process of working through projects. The Idea School students will be presenting again at the school’s upcoming virtual parlor meetings throughout the month.
