Summer Camp Wasn’t All Great

I appreciate the evenhanded approach the Jewish Link typically takes. You most recently, exhaustively covered both sides of the issue of financial aid in yeshivot. So, I was surprised by your one-sided presentation of an issue that definitely has two legitimate viewpoints (“Thank You for a Special Summer!,” August 20, 2010). I refer to the highly congratulatory tone you took in reference to camps this past summer. We all, at the very least, know someone who knows someone whose life was horrifically altered by this disease.

I’m very glad that most camps were able to get through their summers with apparent safety, but to congratulate every camp, even those who sent home students who had to quarantine due to exposure, is irresponsible and trivializes a potentially deadly condition that is still among us. I expect more from our institutions and from the Jewish Link.
