Support Stern and Hernandez Carroll, Gottheimer: Get Out and Vote!

Over the last few months we have seen political signs and held campaign events for the New Jersey State Assembly race for the 37th district. Over the last few weeks letters of support have filled these pages as well. Along with Deputy Mayor Karen Orgen, we previously laid out the reasons we are supporting former Teaneck deputy mayor and longtime community activist Yitz Stern and his Hackensack running mate Rosemary Hernandez Carroll.

Yitz bridges the gap between the founders of Teaneck who trained him in community service and younger newer leaders like myself, Elie Katz and Karen Orgen. From Dave Lew to Stanley Turitz, founders and/or leaders of many community organizations such as the mikvah, TABC, Moriah and Bnai Yeshurun, Yitz learned and then executed accordingly. Befriending many in state government, working with and for the county government, and using the expertise he gained to now guide us, his experience is one we would be lucky to have in Trenton. With your help we will send him there.

But there is more to this district than just Teaneck, than just Jewish people. Much more. Teaming up with Hackensack Latina Rosemary Hernandez Carroll, we are creating a partnership between the two largest towns in the district. Almost half of the district hails from our two municipalities. The shared stories of Latinos and Jews run deep, and together we represent more than a third of the district. As we are from very different backgrounds, yet heavily and always a minority of family-oriented community-based faiths, this powerful unity will surely set examples of how to lead together despite our differences.

I proudly and wholeheartedly support and endorse my friends Yitz Stern and Rosemary Hernandez Carroll for District Assembly. They are at the top of the ballot, where they belong.

You’ve also been reading, hearing and seeing a lot about our congressman, Josh Gottheimer. Josh defines the sentence in Tehillim 121: “Behold the Guardian of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. דהִנֵּ֚ה לֹ֣א יָ֖נוּם וְלֹ֣א יִישָׁ֑ן שׁ֜וֹמֵ֗ר יִשְׂרָאֵֽל” No further words need to detail why he needs to be sent south to Trenton as well. Josh can also be found at the top of the ticket.

Voting started this past week at the Rodda Center, and vote by mail already began last month. Polls close on Tuesday night, June 10. Show up and be counted. For you, for your community, for your people.
