Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Sweet Beginnings Are at Stein Yeshiva

The children of the 4 and 5 year old nursery class at Stein Yeshiva are off to a sweet start! The boys and girls baked beautiful apple rose pastries for Rosh Hashanah using sliced up apples and honey. Mmm, delicious! The children practiced patterning with their sukkah decorations, alternating between rimonim, etrogim and lulavim, oh my! In their classroom learning, the yeladim investigated how many walls a kosher sukkah must have and the kosher materials that can be used for the schach on top. The yeladim took their newfound knowledge of the chag and created their very own panorama sukkahs using natural and recycled materials—always a favorite! The children also enjoyed using cups, wooden blocks and loose parts to build a sukkah as part of a STEM based learning project. Already well into learning the Aleph Beis letters, the yeladim identified and sounded out “shin” for “shofar” and “lamed” for “lulav.” Such a wonderful and exciting start to a new happy and healthy school year!
