The Introductory Economics senior elective course incorporates both macroeconomic and microeconomic concepts. As an introduction to some of the financial literacy topics which the class will cover, Cary Reichardt invited her former student, Aaron Safier ‘01, to address both sections. Safier is the founder and CEO of Sapphire Wealth Advisory Group based in Manhattan. His firm works with clients in creating and implementing customized strategies to help them achieve their financial goals. Aaron “visited” with the classes over Zoom, and stressed the importance of creating a budget, establishing financial goals for different life stages and cautioned the students about falling into debt. In his presentations, Safier touched upon many of the topics which the students will explore in greater depth over the next several weeks. As he presented material, Safier engaged students with important questions for them to think about, and they were able to ask some questions of their own. He is no stranger to conducting seminars and classes, and has been invited by public corporations, graduate schools and hospitals to provide financial literacy seminars to their employees. He also provides ongoing career mentorship to graduating college seniors.
