TABC Storm avenged its defeat by Kushner in the Columbus Jewish Championship series last month, by beating Kushner 3-2 on Sunday June 7 in the elimination semi-finals of the Metropolitan Yeshiva Baseball League. Next Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., TABC will compete against Frisch for the MYBL championship at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
In the June 7 game, played at McKay Park in Englewood—Kushner holding home advantage designation—TABC catcher Shua Naor belted a long two-run home run in the final inning thus bringing TABC from a 2-1 deficit to a stirring 3-2 victory. TABC flourished behind the complete Game 10 strikeout performance of senior Alex Malech, who pitched the entire game.
The Storm took a first inning lead of 1-0 that held until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Kushner tied the game. In the bottom of the 6th, Kushner took the lead for the only time in the seven-inning game. In the top of the 7th, TABC got a base runner thanks to an error. The second play of the inning was a force-out. It was then, that Shua Naor hit his massive home run over the high fence deep in left field off the Kushner relief pitcher. The Storm then held on through the Kushner last licks.
