Things heated up in Ayelet Kopel’s 10th grade chemistry classes at TABC last week as the students got to work with fire. The unit started with a lesson on how to use Bunsen burners and figure out which part of the flame is the hottest. The students then conducted flame tests, where they put different salts into the flames to watch what colors the flame turned. The students witnessed many colors from different ions, including yellow for sodium and green for copper.
