TABC Cross Country Team Is Off to the Races

The TABC Storm kicked off the fall cross country season at Branch Brook Park on Sunday, October 15. While the race ended up not being its usual 5k distance, it was still a memorable 1.5-mile event with TABC claiming fourth place out of seven schools. Leading the way for TABC was freshman sensation Aden Ifraimov who came in 13th overall out of 47 runners. Following Ifraimov was sophomore Ezzi Hamburger, freshman Shmaya Wellerstein, junior captain Eric Sorkin and sophomore Netanel Kalb, who came in 18th, 21st, 22nd and 24th place respectively. By adding up the top scores of the five runners who placed, TABC secured a score of 98 points, only seven points behind fourth place and 58 points ahead of fifth place.

The following Sunday, October 22, the team was back at Branch Brook to compete in their second meet of the season. Senior captain Eytan Kirschenbaum led the way, coming in second place out of 60 runners with a blazing 5-kilometer finish time of 18:43. Behind him, was senior co-captain Gilad Jutkowitz taking 13th place (21:12). Newcomer Ezzi Hamburger came in 25th (23:32), Daniel Lechter in 42nd (25:21), and Joey Jawetz in 54th (29:35). By adding up these top five placings, TABC finished with a score of 136, coming in fifth place out of eight schools (and nearly 80 points ahead of the sixth place finisher). Rounding out the pack for the Storm squad were sophomore Zachary Krohn (34:07) and freshman Moshe Rosenfeld (41:15).

TABC is looking forward to competing at the Dash 4 Dignity 5k at Overpeck Park on November 5, to help raise money for Yad Leah whose mission is donating clothing to Israel’s needy. It is a public race so anyone can sign up or donate! Following that, the team will compete in the championship meet on November 12, at Van Cortlandt Park.
