TABC Enjoys Memorable Shabbaton to Kick Off Second Semester

TABC’s annual 10th-12th grade Shabbaton (the freshmen enjoyed theirs at the end of the first semester) kicked off on Friday, February 7, after davening and shiur. Before heading to the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, New Jersey, the boys stopped at the Multisports Kingdom for various sports tournaments, open courts and lunch. From there, they headed to the hotel and after getting ready for Shabbat, a little Toameha, and Kabbalat Shabbat, they enjoyed their first learning session of the Shabbaton (on Parshat Beshalach), followed by seuda rishona, and addresses from incredibly inspiring guest speakers, Rabbi Lavi and Nechama Greenspan. After a spirited tisch and oneg, Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam delivered a mussar schmooze to close out the night. On Shabbat morning, the boys enjoyed a pre-Shacharit shiur by Rabbi Chanan Strassman ‘05, a meaningful davening and heard again from the Greenspans. After a delicious seuda shniya and some restful menuchas Shabbos, the boys were privileged to enjoy a shiur from Rabbi Ben Krinsky ‘05, followed by breakout Q&A sessions focusing on topics related to navigating high school (10th), becoming the upperclassmen (11th) and preparing for life outside TABC (12th). After Mincha and shalosh seudot, the boys sang zemirot and closed out Shabbat with an uplifting Ma’ariv and Havdalah. After packing up quickly (to beat the snow), the boys were treated to a dairy melaveh malka and hilarious improv comedy from Eli Lebowicz before heading out on their snowy trek back to Queen Anne Road. What a memorable and enriching Shabbaton as the students reconnected with each other and their rebbeim and returned recharged for the second half of the year.
