TABC Evening of Scholarship Wows Crowd

On Tuesday evening, May 28, parents, faculty and fellow students were privileged to hear from nine exceptional TABC student scholars at the annual Distinguished Scholars Program banquet. The banquet provided an opportunity for the 10th graders in TABC’s Distinguished Scholars Program to present the research projects they had been diligently working on over the course of the past two years. As part of the program, each student published a research article under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in their subject matter of choice. Topics ranged across a plethora of disciplines and included “Antibiotic Resistance: How Antibiotics Went from Miracle Drugs to Potential Obsolescence,” “The Psychological Effects of Video Games,” “Rabbinic Attitudes Towards Demonology” and “A Computational Interpretation of Black Holes,” among many others. The evening included PowerPoint presentations in which each student delivered a synopsis of their research, which allowed the audience to get a glimpse into the fascinating data they had collected and analyzed. This was followed by an award ceremony, where each young scholar received a gift from the school, in addition to the Distinguished Scholars Journal containing their published research papers. It was a truly impressive evening that left the students, their mentors and everyone involved with a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Mazal tov to the Distinguished Scholars on a successful year of independent research! TABC is very proud of each and every one of you!
