TABC Holds Outdoor Commencement for Class of 2020

The skies cleared just in time on Wednesday, July 8, for TABC’s socially-distant, but no less meaningful, commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020. Held in TABC’s parking lot on Palisade Avenue, the young men of the Class of 2020 marched in their caps and gowns—and, of course, TABC Storm face masks—and joined their parents for the ceremony, with each family seated in a cluster of three. Following the national anthems and opening remarks from departing Head of School Rabbi Asher Yablok, after which he was presented with a gift from the school and recognized for his dedication in guiding the yeshiva over the past four years, Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Adler introduced the valedictorian, Ephraim Helfgot, and salutatorians, Ezra Baron and Mikey Schwartz, who addressed their classmates with grace and humor. Principal Arthur J. Poleyeff, who last month hand-delivered lawn signs to every member of the graduating class, called each graduate up for their diplomas and threw in an elbow bump as they made their way across the stage. For the four students who could not attend due to summer plans, Poleyeff held private graduate ceremonies at their homes the previous week. During this most unusual year, TABC was glad to be able to send off their seniors in style, with creative spins on Senior Dinner, including a memorable senior tribute and commencement. Mazal tov to the 68 impressive young men who have now joined the ranks of TABC’s esteemed alumni!
