(Courtesy of TABC) Over 500 people came out to Cong. Keter Torah in Teaneck this past Sunday to attend a unique NYC subway-themed TABC 36th annual dinner honoring Nomi and Yechiel Rotblat, Rabbi Joel Grossman, and Aaron Safier. The dinner raised over $720,000 for the Bruce Ritholtz z”l Scholarship Fund.
The dinner program was led off by TABC Co-President Chaim Book who greeted the guests, thanked all who came, and introduced TABC Head of School Rabbi Asher Yablok. In his remarks, Rabbi Yablok noted the recent achievements of the administration, the TABC faculty, and students. He addresses the graduating seniors directly and remarked about how proud he was of their growth. He also praised the faculty and all of the dinner honorees.
After a dvar Torah about the need for a “chaver tov,” Rabbi Yablok introduced a short video highlighting the achievements of the dinner Guests of Honor Yechiel and Nomi Rotblat. After the video finished, the Rotblats were called up by TABC Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Adler and received a standing ovation.
A video was then shown before the award presentation was made to TABC’s longest-tenured faculty member Rabbi Joel Grossman. On the video, Rabbi Grossman was lauded as a “master teacher” and talmid chacham who loves all his students and is able to teach students and impact them inside and outside the classroom.
The Alumni Tribute Award was then presented to Aaron Safier, a 2001 TABC graduate, after a video showcasing Aaron’s continued involvement and commitment to the school. TABC Co-President Mark Zomick closed the program.
The dinner finale featured the world premiere of a new TABC-themed song and video titled “The Man I Am Today,” which was sung and performed by TABC senior Dovid Pearlman. The song was based on the hit Mordechai Shapiro song “Friends.” Once the video ended, Dovid Pearlman and the TABC Band performed live and led the dinner guests with lively dancing and ruach.
