TABC JV Basketball Gets Revenge on Frisch Cougars

The TABC JV basketball team hosted Frisch in a Sunday matinee in Teaneck on January 5. The last time the two teams met, the Cougars won convincingly on their home court. Heading into this rematch, TABC was anxious to prove that they still belonged among the JV elite. Frisch scored the first two buckets off the opening tip and it felt as if the Storm might be in for another long game. Then, sophomore Zachy Lowe converted on a triple in the corner to get TABC on the board. A few minutes later, Lowe turned offense into defense with a huge block (his first of three on the day) and Sammy Haberman ’27 hit a deep three to give the Storm their first lead of the game. At the end of the first quarter, TABC held a one-point lead. The second quarter saw TABC go on an 8-0 run, getting every single offensive rebound. Rafi Karasick ’27 and Shai Bickel ’28 were huge boosts off the bench and the Storm led by seven at the halftime break. The second half featured another 8-0 Storm run led by Haberman and freshman phenom Tani Stein. The Storm lead was 15 after three and in the final frame, the team went into cruise control, with Lowe controlling the paint and Haberman nailing three triples. TABC won by a whopping score of 61-36. The Storm offense was paced by Haberman’s double double of 22 points and 11 rebounds while Stein and Lowe also hit double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. The Storm now head into the winter break with a 7-2 record.
