On a crisp Sunday afternoon, as wildfires continued to torment the northeastern United States, there was another fire blazing in a basement gymnasium in Upper Manhattan, as the TABC JV Storm exploded for seven goals and beat MTA 7-0.
Coming off a disappointing loss against HAFTR fewer than 72 hours prior, the Storm knew it was time to put on their helmets and get to work. Playing spoiler to the Storm was MTA goalie Justin Shikman who faced an onslaught of TABC shots and chances. Freshman Jack Salomon got the party started with a rebound goal in the first period. Sophomore Aaron Brothman added to that lead in the early stages of the second period as he jammed in a goal of his own. Looking to put the game out of reach, sophomore Jake Rubenstein snapped one in after a saucy move at the blue line. Sophomore Sol Sandel provided strong netminding and a steady hand to keep MTA’s side of the scoreboard at 0. Meanwhile, TABC added goals from freshman Dovid Allen, a shorthanded goal from sophomore Zach Field, a powerplay tally from freshman Allan Rozner. and a snipe from freshman Noam Adler to complete the scoresheet. The Storm will look to build on this victory in their next game this Thursday against the SAR Sting.
