With the play-off season underway, TABC’s JV Soccer hosted SAR for a semi-final game. In the regular season head-to-head record, each team had won on the opposing floor.
The semi-final game started in a rushed fashion with TABC scoring the first goal in the early part of the first period. SAR came back with three unanswered goals to close out the first half with a 3-1 lead. The second period continued the scoring march with TABC tying the game, and subsequent alternating goals resulting in a 5-4 lead for SAR at halftime. The third period was more of the same: TABC tied the score at 5-5, SAR responded to gain the lead at 6-5 and then TABC exploded for three quick unanswered goals to take the lead at 8-6. The fourth period took an unexpected defensive turn with both teams stifling any further goals, allowing TABC to hold for an 8-6 victory. Crushing and consistent offensive play by Golan Meir (’17), Refael Minsky (’18) and Roi Shusan (’18)—with a particular nod to Ari Lowy (’17) for a game-tying and game-turning goal in the third period—is what secured the win. Yosef Goldblatt (’17), Aviel Avidan (’17), and Ezra Friedman (’18) played smothering defense and back-floor control. Finally, Yoshi Spivak (’17) displayed strong goal-tending, shutting down SAR in the fourth period.
