TABC Learning Continues During Pesach Break for Students, Alumni and Parents

Although school was on break, a variety of learning opportunities took place for both TABC students and alumni during Pesach. Rabbi Ezra Wiener and Chanan Strassman offered shiurim, both leading up to Pesach and during Chol haMoed, on topics relating to Pesach and Yom Tov. Additionally, several alumni and faculty shared their Ta’anit Bechorot siyumim with the TABC family. Before Pesach, alumni were treated to nightly shiurim with several TABC rebbeim, giving them opportunities to connect to each other and their rebbeim leading up to the chag. These shiurim were given l’iluy nishmat Ilan Tokayer ‘03. Rabbi Wiener also directed specific shiurim to recent graduates, many of whom had to cut their time in yeshiva in Israel short due to the world health situation.

The Monday evening of Chol HaMoed Pesach saw more than 40 TABC alumni, alumni parents and community members join for a free CLE and CPE shiur delivered by Rabbi Chaim Jachter. The shiur reviewed the very timely topic of recovering payment for canceled Pesach vacations in Beit Din. Rabbi Jachter, who also serves as a dayan with the Beth Din of Elizabeth, placed Rav Hershel Schachter’s ruling regarding the current situation into perspective as a continuum of rabbinic rulings from the Mishna, Gemara, Rishonim, until the most recent Acharonim. It was comforting to have such a large crowd creating a sense of community and togetherness during this period of separation. One participant even participated from the hospital while wearing an oxygen mask! A special thank you is due to Eliezer Shaffren ‘01 of the Madison Title Agency (www.madisontitle.com) who facilitated this wonderful event and provided the free CLE and CPE credit.

As always, TABC’s Halacha 24/7 and TABC Torah WhatsApp groups continue daily throughout the year.
