On Erev Shabbos, January 12, 14 seniors from Rabbi Jonathan Kessel’s senior Masmidim elective course headed to the Kessel home in Passaic. They welcomed Shabbat at the Ravona Shteibel where the kehilla was awed by Eytan Goldstein’s inspiring Kabbalat Shabbat. After davening the group enjoyed a delicious seuda at the Kessel home with uplifting zemiros and divrei Torah from Eitan Kirschenbaum and Dovid Bitton. The boys then went to a local beis medrash for an hour night seder, returning to the Kessel home for a tish led by Oliver Teicher, which didn’t end until nearly midnight. On Shabbos morning, the students rose early for davening at Kol Yeshurun, where the kehilla was once again impressed by the sincerity and seriousness of the TABC chevra. After a lavish kiddush, the Masmidim had a half-hour morning seder before enjoying another delicious seuda at the Kessels with Yaakov Beyda and Goldstein delivering special messages related to the group’s shared excitement for their upcoming year in Eretz Yisroel. After Mincha led by Beyda, the boys had an hour break to either learn or nap before gathering for seuda shelishis. Goldstein closed out the memorable Shabbat with a cantorial rendition of Havdala. Special thanks to Rebbetzin Rachel Kessel for making this incredible Shabbos for the Masmidim!
