Last month, TABC’s sophomore photography students visited the Watchung Arts Center to see a juried exhibit curated and judged by the New Jersey Photo Forum. Students met with Nancy Ori, a New Jersey-based photographer and director of the New Jersey Photo Forum. In its 27th year, the international photography exhibit is one of only a handful of juried photography exhibits in New Jersey. Students were thrilled to have the opportunity to see photographs in person and discuss the images with Ori. Ori discussed how the images were chosen, and the elements of the photographs that made them strong compositions. “Go back to the rule of thirds and you’ll be a winner,” Ori told them. The 75 fine-art images on display were by 40 artists in a variety of styles, including landscape, architecture, nature and more.
TABC’s photography elective is one of dozens of diverse electives offered at TABC and allows students the opportunity to both study the art of photography and gain hands-on experience in capturing everything from food to nature.
