TABC Redwings Capture Junior Hockey Crown

In a matchup of the original six teams, the Redwings defeated the Maple leafs 3-2 to win the winter 2014 title.

After a scoreless first period, the Redwings struck for 2 goals in the middle of the second period. Jonah Gerson opened the scoring putting home a rebound of an Eli Blumenfeld shot. Ezra Barishansky made it 2-0 when he put home a rebound of a Sariel Rotblat shot. Late in the second, Maple leaf coach Jonah Ganchrow called time out and his team responded. Gabe Rosenblatt scored twice late in the second to tie the game, the first on a pass from Ryan Weiss, the second assisted by regular season MVP Jeremy Baruch.

The third period started 2-2 as the tension could be felt in the gym as everybody knew the next goal could prove decisive. Halfway through the third Eitan Adler of the Redwings tipped home a shot from the point to give the Redwings the 3-2 lead. Goalie Asher Rauzman made the lead stand up with the help of Playoff MVP Eli Blumenfeld.
