In an effort to meet the growing population of Sephardic students at TABC, TABC’s Sephardic minyan now meets every day, under the guidance of Rabbi Chaim Jachter, the rabbi of the Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck, Sha’arei Orah. More and more of the tefillah is being led by the students as they learn from Rabbi Jachter how to serve as Sephardic baalei tefillah. One particularly beautiful moment happened before reciting Hallel on Rosh Chodesh, when Rabbi Jachter instructed each student to follow his family minhag regarding reciting a bracha. Students whose families hail from Morocco and Tunisia recited “likro et haHallel” while those from Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Yemen did not recite the bracha. What a magnificent teaching moment!
