TABC Softball Advances to Semifinals

The varsity softball team kicked off their playoff campaign against the YDE Thunder Friday afternoon at Overpeck Park. This was the team’s first game in over a month, but you never would have guessed it. The Storm struck first in the bottom of the first with senior Ari Katz (who was double booked as a member of the baseball team also, but chose to suit up for softball) knocking in the first run. YDE responded in the following inning to take a 2-1 lead before the Storm pulled away for good. TABC tacked on three runs in the bottom of the second, led by a two-run RBI single from captain and senior Aharon Tuchman. Stellar pitching from junior Jake Rothenberg and phenomenal fielding from seniors Elli Spinowitz and Joseph Segal kept YDE at bay as the Storm cruised to a 6-2 victory, earning a spot in the semis and besting their performance last year. The Storm now hits the road to Brooklyn to face Shaare Torah with a spot in the championship on the line.
