Wednesday night, October 28, TABC had their home opener against a familiar foe, the DRS Wildcats. The Weather Center was filled with dozens of TABC fans and it got the intensity started early. The Storm took control and was able to pile up the chances. Halfway through the first, TABC senior defenseman Joe Moskowitz was able to work the ball in the offensive zone and laid a perfect pass on the stick of Jonah Ganchrow who was able to give TABC the first lead of the game. DRS did not go away, and after drawing a penalty they were able to score early on the power play to tie the game at 1. Later in the first period, TABC captain Yair Knoller took the ball out of the air with his glove and was able to bat the ball past the DRS goaltender to make the score 2-1.
In the second period the chances continued, and on the power play TABC captain offenseman Daniel Levy was able to find Knoller, who buried the goal; the lead was now by two.
In the third period it was Captain Ari Fuchs who was able to make the most of a mess in front of the DRS goal. He put in his first goal of the season to make it a three goal lead. DRS started playing a lot stronger halfway through the third period and they placed another goal on the board, which put them right back in the game. Fortunately, it was TABC junior Zach Rothenberg who put the game away with a goal of his own as he buried one past the goalie late in the third period. This was an all-around terrific effort by the TABC Varsity Storm, who are now 2-0. They will host Ramaz on Thursday November 5.
