TABC Storm Survives Sting Comeback

(TABC Sports) The TABC varsity basketball team traveled to The Hive in Riverdale on Saturday night to take on the SAR Sting. The Storm have been undefeated all year on the road and were looking to win their eighth game in a row. SAR Academy alum Ayden Gurin came into this game with a point to prove after going scoreless in the last game vs. Frisch. Immediately off the opening tip, Gurin was able to find his stroke from 3-point range. TABC found themselves up by three at the end of one. In the second quarter, Gurin continued to light up the Sting and the Storm looked like they were on their way to cruising to another win as they headed into the halftime locker room. TABC led by as much as 15 at one point but careless turnovers, and SAR’s ability to pound it down low for points in the paint, chipped away at TABC’s big lead which seemed to evaporate out of thin air. Eyal Kinderlehrer and Eitan Sulemanoff were the ultimate closers, making big play after big play any time the Sting came knocking on the door. With six seconds remaining, SAR had a chance to win the game but their shot at the buzzer fell short. The Storm faithful breathed a massive sigh of relief as the team held on for a big win by a final score of 47-46. Gurin finished with a game-high 18 points. TABC now improve to 9-2 as they head into winter break and will host SAR in a rematch in Teaneck when they return.
