Just a few weeks ago, TABC juniors Yakov Abrahams and Nachi Scheiner approached their rebbe, Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam, with an idea. In order to incentivize their classmates to learn the weekly parsha with Rashi, they suggested having weekly quizzes and awarding gift cards toward sefarim to the top scorers. Thus, the “Shnayim Mikra Challenge” was born. Already, approximately 50 students have joined the program. Participants take a Google quiz, available in their email and on the group’s WhatsApp chat, right after Shabbat. All participants receive a gift from TABC, in addition to the grand prizes awarded to the top scorers. “Shnayim Mikra is going viral in TABC!” Rabbi Mandelstam said. “It is beyond inspiring to see so many high school boys take an optional quiz on the parsha right after Shabbat each week.”
