TABC Students Learn the Ins and Outs of Government

This past week, six members of TABC’s vibrant Israel Advocacy Club traveled to Washington, D.C. for AIPAC’s annual Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit. Ezra Seplowitz and Ezra Baron, club co-presidents, along with Sam Weinberg, Itai Hudes, Dovy Fuchs and Ezzie Kilimnick were accompanied by history teacher and club advisor, Dr. Elliot Prager, on this meaningful conference. The group participated in informational sessions and honed their political lobbying skills on Capitol Hill.

Meanwhile, the senior AP United States Government and Politics class traveled to Trenton to visit the home of the New Jersey state government. The first part of the trip involved a tour of the State House, including a visit to the Assembly and Senate chambers. The students reviewed how state government works and some of the differences between state and federal governments. After the tour the students participated in a Make a Law activity, debating a law currently before the New Jersey State General Assembly: Should the State require the use of wooden bats in all organized baseball activities? The students explored the pros and cons before voting on the bill.

TABC is proud of the myriad of opportunities available for students to cultivate their leadership skills inside and outside the classroom.
