On Thursday, December 18, sophomores in TABC’s Scholars program, a two-year independent research initiative for motivated underclassmen, and juniors participating in the annual Jerusalem Science Contest, visited SUNY Stony Brook’s Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering laboratories. Students met with Dr. Miriam Rafailovich and Dr. Anatoly Frenkel to learn about cutting-edge research in polymers and nanoparticles. Dr. Rafailovich is nationally recognized for her integration of high school students, including many Jewish students, in her research program. As part of their visit, students heard about what it’s like to do research at such a young age and engaged in hands-on experience in her lab facilities.
