TABC Varsity Basketball Team Extends Winning Streak

(TABC) TABC’s varsity basketball team ventured to Great Neck on Wednesday night, November 29, for a late-night battle against North Shore. This was the second meeting of the year between these two teams, having met in Memphis a few weeks ago at the Cooper Invitational. North Shore were undefeated champions in the league last year and this game was their home opener. Meanwhile, TABC was determined to keep the momentum going following their first home win a few days ago and they ended up bringing their most complete performance of the season. Junior phenom Eyal Kinderlehrer proved why he is one of the most critical members of this squad, finishing with a team-high 21 points while being an absolute beast on the glass and sinking his free throws at the line. The team is known to be very reliant on the 3-point shot and, on Wednesday night, they showed how unbeatable they can be when the shots fall. The Storm got big-time triples from beyond the arc from Yonah Mandel ‘25, Yaakov Salomon ‘24, Eitan Sulemanoff ‘24 and Ayden Gurin ‘24. The Storm were victorious by a final score of 51-38.

On Sunday night, the team played their last game before the Chanukah break at the Ohr Yisroel Flames in Tenafly. The Storm were looking to keep their unbeaten-away record intact and maintain pressure on the teams at the top of the standings. With the Storm starting slowly out of the gate in the first quarter, the Flames found themselves up four heading into the second quarter. The Storm made sure that was the Flames’ first and only lead heading into a break. The second quarter and the rest of the game went the Storm’s way. The size and big man presence of Kinderlehrer was too much for the Ohr Yisroel team to handle. Kinderlehrer earned multiple trips to the line and was a monster on the glass too, finishing with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Gurin had another great shooting night, totaling 23 points. Eitan Sulemanoff and Yonah Mandel were also instrumental in the victory with the Storm coming out on top by a final score of 66-44. TABC have now won three in a row to improve their record to 4-2 and will resume play after Chanukah at JEC.
