(Courtesy of TABC) The TABC varsity basketball team hosted the Frisch Cougars in Teaneck on Wednesday night in the first round of the playoffs and the stakes couldn’t have been higher. After splitting the season series, the teams were ready to duke it out again with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. The Storm limped into the playoffs after losing their last three games of the regular season, but the team was re-energized by the return of star player Zevi Samet following his recovery from an injury. TABC was up after every quarter but it was hard to completely pull away from the Cougars. Clutch free throw and three-point shooting throughout the night from Samet and Ari Kaminetzky though, were enough to power the Storm to victory. Yoni Mann was on his A-game throughout the night leading the Storm to a 57-54 victory in what was clearly their biggest win of the season. The Storm now advances and will head to Brooklyn to take on the Magen David Warriors in the quarterfinals.
