In what has been dubbed “The Battle of Bergen County”, the TABC Storm took on the Frisch Cougars on a chilly Tuesday night in Paramus, NJ. Predicted to be a tightly contested game, fans were not disappointed as the game saw many lead changes and exciting play from both teams. Despite the record low temperatures outside, Frisch’s Justin Hod was on fire from the opening tip to the final buzzer, finishing with 32 points, including a crucial 4-point play late in the fourth quarter. However, despite Frisch’s best efforts, the Storm played a phenomenal team game, ultimately pulling out a well-earned victory, 53-45. Led by Senior Yehoshua Zirman (16 points) and Juniors Dan Poleyeff (16 points) and Moshe Brum (11 points), the Storm capitalized on a late run of their own in the fourth quarter, punctuated by a 4-point play by Poleyeff as well as tough defense by Senior Alex Hirt and Junior Solomon Shulman. The Storm are on a roll as of late, defeating MTA on a buzzer beater as well as capturing the title in the 2014 Maimonides Invitational Tournament in Brookline, Massachusetts.
