On Thursday, January 30th, the TABC Varsity Storm hockey team was looking to get hot going into the stretch in a game against the JEC Thunder on ‘senior night.’ JEC, playing for its playoff life, was not going to make it easy.
After the first period, the score was 1-0 in favor of the Storm on a goal by Shmuel Levy. In between the first and second periods, the senior night ceremony took place and Mr. Arthur Poleyeff, TABC Principal, called each senior out to center court by name and thanked them and their parents for their dedication and hard work.
Keeping up the intensity, the Storm tallied another 2 goals in next two periods off the sticks of Shmuel Levy and Aryeh Pechet and took the game 3-0. It was a memorable game for the seniors in which each one got at least one shift. Starting goalie Craig Klein played a stellar game in net to keep the Storm in it.
On Saturday night, February 1st, the Storm traveled to Kushner to take on the Cobras. After going down 1-0 early, the Storm came back strong. Later in the first period, Aryeh Pechet netted a power play goal to tie things up at 1 going into the intermission.
But TABC wasn’t done just yet. The Storm came out flying to start the second period scoring two goals early in the period off the sticks of Shmuel Levy and Alex Malech.
Adding to their lead in the third period was Aryeh Pechet with his second of the game. This gave TABC a 4-1 lead to close out the game. It was another fantastic game by goaltender Craig Klein.
