The TABC varsity hockey team headed to Paramus on election night to kick off their season against the Frisch Cougars. There were high expectations for the Storm as they headed into their opening game, as this is the same team that won the JV championship two years ago. The Storm came racing out of the gate, with star player Aiden Rauzman ‘25 getting on the scoresheet less than a minute into the game. That set the tone early and silenced the home crowd. Rauzman then added a second goal only two minutes later. TABC outhit, outshot and outplayed Frisch throughout the first period. In the second period, a nifty backhander from Akiva Mittel ‘25 padded the Storm lead. The Cougars finally got on the board, but Rauzman quickly stifled any momentum and completed his hat trick. Former Cougar Ethan Mauskopf ‘25 completed the scoring with a laser off a win on the face-off to cap off the scoring. Frisch had a tough night finding ways past goaltender Shia Forgash ‘25 and the final score ended in favor of TABC, 5-1. A great start to the regular season!
Then the TABC team headed to Tenafly to battle the Ohr Yisroel Flames on Sunday, November 10. The team was looking to continue their red-hot start to the season. Rauzman picked up where he left off and, once again, scored less than a minute into the game. A few seconds later, a laser from Aryeh Eizikovitz ‘25 made it a two-goal lead. The Storm continued to pile on the pressure with more first period goals from seniors Noam Becker (off a great pass from Aryeh Simon ’25), Bentzion Keiser, Moshe Strulowitz and a second goal from Eizikovitz. The second and third periods gave Coach Mo Fuchs an opportunity to give valuable minutes to everyone on the team. Rauzman added a second, and goals from junior Shlomo Wenger and Simon put a bow on it, making the final score 9-0 in favor of the Storm. Junior Netanel Kalb made his varsity debut in goal and came away with the shutout. The Storm are feeling great early on in this young season!
