TABC Varsity Hockey Wins Beitler Memorial Tournament at HAFTR

(Courtesy of TABC Sports) The TABC Varsity Hockey team spent this past weekend in the Five Towns competing against five other schools in the Beitler Memorial Tournament at HAFTR. The TABC seniors were determined to end their careers on a high note following a disappointing semifinal exit in the league playoffs.

The team was perfect in round-robin play, winning their first two games in overtime against Kushner and SAR before comfortably defeating Frisch in their final game, securing the top seed for the knockout round. In the semifinals, the Storm faced the HAFTR Hawks for the first time this season. Aryeh Simon ’25, fresh off a flight from Israel, joined the team and made an immediate impact, scoring two goals to put TABC ahead early. Yoel Gellman ’25 extended the lead to 3-0, and it appeared the Storm were going to cruise into the finals.

The hosts were able to cut the deficit to 3-2, but TABC held on to secure their spot in the finals against SAR. The two teams had split their regular season meetings, and now it was a winner-takes-all situation. TABC dominated from start to finish, sealing a 4-0 victory. Aiden Rauzman ’25 scored all four goals, while Shia Forgash ’25 recorded the shutout in net. Rauzman was named Tournament MVP, with Forgash and Bentzion Keiser ’25 earning All-Star honors.

A special congratulations to Rabbi Kahn, Coach Yak, Max Borger ’24 and Shay Fields ’24 for their coaching throughout the weekend, helping the team bring home some hardware to TABC!
