TABC Varsity Hockey Wins Hard-Fought Victory Over SAR

The TABC Storm varsity hockey team traveled to the Bee Hive in Riverdale, Saturday night, for a battle of the unbeatens. SAR came into the game 4-0 and was averaging 10 goals per game. TABC came in at 2-0.

From the drop of the puck, the action was fast and furious. Midway through the first period co-captain Efraim Tiger took a pass from alternate captain Yitzy Kopstick, wrapped around the net and beat SAR goalie Henri Kolb to give the Storm a 1-0 lead. It was the first time this season the Sting had trailed in a game. The score stayed that way due to the stellar goaltending of Kolb and Avrumi Davis. With 7:30 left in the third period, off a faceoff, SAR co-captain Jason Burian fed co-captain Shua Friedman who ripped a shot past a screened Davis to tie the game at 1-1.

The teams would battle the full 36 minutes with no winner, so to overtime the game went. Just 22 seconds into overtime the Storm’s Eli Schiff got a shot on net and linemate Eli Spinowitz deposited the rebound into the top of the net to give TABC a hard fought 2-1 victory.

The teams will meet again on Thursday December 7, in TABC for what promises to be another classic.
