TABC Varsity Soccer Blows Away JEC

(TABC sports) On Tuesday night, March 19, TABC’s varsity soccer team opened their season against the JEC Thunder at home. Before kickoff, a special ceremony was held to honor retiring head coach Sam Shteingart, who dedicated himself to the program for the last 16 years. A special plaque was presented to him by his successor, Coach Moshe Zharnest, who played for Shteingart and coached with him. After the ceremony, the Storm got down to business. Sammy Levine, playing against his former school and twin brother, scored less than six seconds into the game, assisted by Yoav Linder. Twenty-two seconds later, Levine was again teed up by Linder for another goal. Senior captain Matis Krause completed a first quarter hat trick and Yaakov Salamon got on the scoresheet too to put the Storm up 6-0 after one. In the second quarter, Krause added a fourth to his account, Levine completed a hat trick of his own, and captain Chanina Nussbaum notched a goal in what was an overwhelmingly positive night for the Storm. Tzvi Gold was outstanding in net, not giving the JEC offense many opportunities. TABC won by a final score of 10-1. The Storm next travels to the Upper East Side to take on the Ramaz Rams in early April.
