The Varsity hockey season started for the TABC Storm on Tuesday night when they traveled to Ramaz to take on the Rams. Although TABC was favored beforehand, the game was close for its entirety.
TABC started off slow as the chances were coming for both teams back and forth until midway through the first period. Yehosha Naor (‘16) ripped a shot from the point that found the back of the net to give TABC the first lead of the game. In the second period Ramaz drew a penalty and was able to tie the game at 1 with a power play goal. Only seconds later Ari Fuchs (‘16) made a wonderful pass across the court to find Daniel Levy (‘16) who slipped the puck by the Ram’s goalie on his backhand. Less than a minute later Levy found Yair Knoller (‘16) across the court who put the ball right over the goalie to extend the lead to two.
In the third period Ramaz was able to get back on the power play to bring the score to 3-2. Just like after Ramaz’s first goal, TABC came out strong again with Daniel Levy running past a defender ripping a wrist shot top shelf to put the lead back at two. With the score 4-2, Yair Knoller was able to spin around the net and put the ball five hole passed the goalie. Ramaz put up a third goal late in the third period making the final score 5-3.
An outstanding effort by TABC goalie Shua Beilin (‘16) kept the Storm in the game throughout. As of this writing, the Storm are 1-0. Stay tuned for the results of the October 28 game against DRS in a rematch of the semifinal game from last year.
